Wellbeing-led community action
Individual reflection:
A tool to aid your personal learning and impact
Taking time to reflect helps us learn and move forward to apply what’s useful, and leave behind anything no longer helpful. This reflection process ends with key action points to boost your community action. It helps us clear our minds of the past and focus on the task we have in front of us, so that we can be more effective.
Group Size: 1 (individual activity) | Time frame: 30-60mins | Materials: Pen, notepad, a cup of something delicious to drink

Preparation for the conversation
Step 1:
Prepare to reflect: Get comfortable somewhere quiet. Finish any pressing tasks.
Step 2:
Take a moment with yourself: How do I feel? What’s on your mind about your community action? Decide what experience your reflection will focus on (e.g. a recent experience with your community group, a meeting that has recently taken place, a social interaction, a recent event, etc.)
Step 3:
It can be good to use old fashioned pen and paper - free yourself from distractions of computers, phones, or tablets. Consider each of these questions in turn:
What happened during the experience?
How did I feel and what were my reactions?
What insights or conclusions can I draw from the experience about myself? What did I learn?
How can I apply what I learned to improve future experience? What actions can I take based on what I learned?
Step 4:
If getting support in applying your learnings will help, set deadlines for each of the actions you have identified during your reflections and share them with someone in your community.
